Accommodation

The St Andrews Conservatory venue is in Fitzroy and a ten minute walk from the CBD (Central Business District) of Melbourne. There are many hotels, apartments or AirBnBs to stay in the area. If you are staying for longer than just the wedding, consider staying in a couple spots.

Closer to the date, I will put guests in touch with each other if they are all looking for spots etc to share AirBnBs.

General Advice: Melbourne is safer than London by a fair margin. Travel links like the City Loop, tram and buses are the best in Australia. Ubering is easy. Renting a car isn’t necessary but useful if going around the wider Melbourne area or further.

Please reach out if you have any questions, you likely will!

Places to Consider Staying:

Inner North: Fitzroy, Carlton and Collingwood (where we live) is practically one area and surrounds the venue. They are part of the ‘Inner North’ and have the cafes, restaurants, clubs and shops you would expect in Shoreditch. Most places in these areas will be a walkable distance from the venue or a short cab ride.

The CBD: A very high density city centre of Melbourne, all high rise buildings of rooftop bars, better east Asian Restaurants then anywhere in the UK.

Richmond, South Yarra, Chapel Street, Windsor: Very close to the MCG, a massive sports stadium. Loads of restaurants, cafes etc. Less creative types with small black tattoos and 70’s haircuts than the Inner North

Places to Avoid:

Not many, staying in the west of the city can make it harder to get to the rest of the city but can be cheaper and great bars etc. Don’t go further west than Footscray. Any further north than Brunswick is probably too far. St Kilda is the closest beach suburb to the CBD. It is also full of backpackers, so beware…
